We are the owners of a small, home-based Russian Blue cattery, proudly raising this remarkable breed for five years.
During these years, we have watched generations of kittens grow, worked with different bloodlines, and developed a clear vision of the Russian Blue we want to raise: healthy, beautiful, intelligent, affectionate, and well prepared for life with a family.
A New Chapter for Our Cattery
2026 marks an exciting new chapter for us.
We retained four promising young females from our own breeding program and welcomed our new male, Caspian, from a distinguished European bloodline.
Caspian arrived in the United States on September 26, 2026, after nearly two years of planning. We arranged his purchase well in advance with a long-established and highly respected European Russian Blue cattery whose breeding program has produced outstanding representatives of the breed.
We are delighted to welcome Caspian into our home and look forward to seeing what he will contribute to the next generation of our Russian Blues.
For us, adding a new breeding cat is never simply about beauty. We consider pedigree, health, temperament, structure, coat quality, eye color, and how each bloodline complements the cats we already have.
Five Years of Experience
Over the years, 14 adult Russian Blues have been part of our breeding program.
Our females are bred only a limited number of times — generally four to six litters — before retiring. We then carefully select loving permanent families for them.
We have worked with both European and American Russian Blue bloodlines. Each has qualities we appreciate: exceptional coat, affectionate temperament, beautiful structure, striking eyes, or qualities we value for long-term health.
Over time, we have selected the characteristics we love most and continue to thoughtfully combine them in our breeding program.
What Breeding Has Taught Us
Responsible breeding is far more complicated than simply putting two beautiful cats together.
Pregnancy, delivery, nursing, kitten development, nutrition, hygiene, socialization, and the emotional well-being of the mother all require constant attention.
Mother cats need privacy and a calm environment after giving birth. Other adult cats are kept separate from newborn litters so each mother can care for her kittens without interference or unnecessary stress.
We also avoid disturbing newborn kittens more than necessary. Some mothers are extremely protective and may repeatedly relocate their babies if they feel their nesting area is being disturbed.
Pregnant females are provided with a safe environment where unnecessary high jumps and stressful situations can be minimized.
Once kittens begin eating independently and exploring the world, human interaction becomes especially important. They see us, hear us, are handled regularly, experience ordinary household sounds, and learn that people are part of their normal, safe environment.
Our Cats Live With Us
Our breeding cats live inside our home.
They hear everyday conversations, music, children’s songs playing through Alexa, and our robot vacuum cleaner. I talk to them every day, pick them up, cuddle them, touch their paws and ears, and interact with them naturally.
We previously had a protected outdoor area on our porch. After stray cats began appearing around our property, we discontinued access to better protect the health of our cats and kittens.
Why We Are a Closed Cattery
Our cattery is a closed cattery as part of our biosecurity program.
During kitten season, our home may temporarily have a significant number of adult cats and kittens under one roof. Young kittens have developing immune systems, while pregnant females and newborn litters require additional protection.
For this reason, we limit unnecessary outside exposure and do not operate our home as a public facility with regular visitor traffic.
When We Photograph Our Kittens
We know everyone wants to see the babies as soon as possible!
We generally begin taking individual photographs at approximately 7 weeks of age, although we prefer photographing them closer to 9 weeks. By then, their facial features are more defined, their personalities are easier to recognize, and you can begin to see the beautiful young Russian Blue they are becoming.
Health Is One of Our Priorities
I am a physician by education, so health, hygiene, observation, and prevention have always been extremely important to me.
Our cats and kittens receive appropriate veterinary and preventive care, including deworming and age-appropriate vaccinations.
The Russian Blue is generally considered a naturally robust breed. We place great importance on maintaining health and vitality in our breeding program.
The Extraordinary Russian Blue Coat
By around 10 weeks of age, the mother cat naturally begins to wean her kittens and gradually steps away from caring for them. Their increasingly sharp teeth make nursing uncomfortable, while hormonal changes associated with the end of lactation naturally encourage her to become more independent from the litter.
Natural Weaning and Spay/Neuter
At this stage, we schedule the kittens’ spay or neuter procedures. After surgery, they remain with us through their recovery period and, once fully recovered, are ready to leave for their new homes.
One of the most beautiful characteristics of the Russian Blue is its coat.
Depending on genetics, age, lighting, and surroundings, it can appear anywhere from delicate silvery blue to a deep, rich blue-gray — sometimes a color that is almost impossible for a camera to capture accurately.
The distinctive coat reflects light beautifully because of its texture and silver-tipped appearance. Whenever weather permits, we photograph our kittens outdoors in natural light so families can see their coat color as accurately as possible.
When Do Russian Blue Eyes Turn Green?
Russian Blue kittens are born with blue-toned eyes.
As they mature, the color gradually changes. By the time many kittens leave for their new homes, you may already notice the first hints of green.
The characteristic green of an adult Russian Blue develops gradually and may continue becoming richer and more intense throughout the first year and beyond.
How Many Kittens Do We Have?
We intentionally remain a small breeding program.
With three breeding females, even under ideal circumstances, our number of kittens is limited. A female may have approximately two litters in a year, and a typical litter for us may contain around three or four kittens.
Availability therefore varies considerably.
Nature does not follow a production schedule. Sometimes a litter may contain only one kitten. Sometimes breeding does not result in pregnancy. Stress or household changes can also affect reproductive cycles.
Because of this unpredictability, we do not maintain an enormous waiting list or promise kittens that have not yet been born. We usually make kittens available after birth and accept only a limited number of advance inquiries.

Every once in a while, a kitten is born who looks or behaves almost exactly like another kitten we raised years before — a tiny little clone. That experience helps us recognize personalities early and gives us a better idea of the adult cat each kitten may become.
